About the Work
Debuted at the Julia Miles Theatre (NYC), Where the Music Lives is a reinvention of a classic tap dance program. A 14 piece band including seven musicians and seven tap dancers present music of all genres from classic standards and bebop, to funk and fusion, while paying tribute to some of music’s greats from Duke Ellington to the recently departed Joe Zaminul. Mentored by Gregory Hines, Nemr draws from the lineage of tap dancers John Bubbles, Jimmy Slyde, and Savion Glover as the music becomes the dance and the dance becomes the music.
